QDrops by Tiger Team keeps you updated with the latest in QAnon conspiracy theories.

When QDrops was first released, it was among the most popular apps available on the official stores for Android and Apple. Then, a controversy occurred. The official stores chose to distance themselves from QDrops, and alternatives sprung up in its place. That isn’t to say that you can’t still use QDrops. You can, but it no longer is and probably never will be the trendsetter it was at launch.

In order to appreciate what QDrops is, you need to understand QAnon. In a nutshell, QAnon is a conspiracy theory that alleges a deep state movement aimed at undermining U.S. President Donald Trump, his administration and his supporters. People who subscribe to this theory believe that accurate news regarding this deep state is not available to them. In response, movements like The Great Awakening have arisen to keep people informed of these alleged attempts against Trump.

As for the app, Q references the QAnon movement, and drops refers to the small pieces of information that are displayed via the QDrops feed. The most recent drops are at the top of the list. Entries are color-coded so that you can easily associate them with a particular category of news. Drops have a brief bold headline that is easy to scan. Many will also have a tweet-sized description or so that will provide you some additional information. In some cases, you can click on a drop to be brought to a more extensive text, including outside of the app, such as to an article on a website.

The QDrops app also features a built-in lexicon. The movement has a lot of terms that have been created or evolved. It is almost a language onto itself, and even the most active QAnon enthusiast probably can’t remember them all. The lexicon is in alphabetical order so that you can easily look up a term. Many terms start with special characters. Those can be a pain to sort through, and it would be nice if the app would bring you directly to the lexicon by clicking on a term, but it does not.

As mentioned, QDrops lets you search drops, and you can do this for today or going back over a particular period. The app also has filters that you can activate and customize in order to determine what is shown in your real-time feed. You can look at an unfiltered feed at any time. There are also share features so that let you share items from QDrops to other social platforms.

Perhaps the biggest problem with the app is that most items aren’t sourced and many of the news providers are anonymous. You have no easy way to determine if the information is valid, and in fact, incorrect information is what started the controversy and got the app removed from official stores.
